MONTGOMERY, Ala. - School officials are investigating after a big brawl broke out during a high school basketball playoff game in Montgomery. The fight cleared the benches of both G.W. Carver and Valley High schools and halted the semifinal game.
The Central Regional Tournament of the Alabama High School Athletic Association game was being played at the Alabama State University Acadome on Tuesday afternoon. Valley's Enrique Florence fouled Carver's Roquez Johnson with 6:23 remaining in the fourth quarter. Johnson shoved Florence and both benches emptied. Fans poured out of the stands onto the court. Police ended fights on the court but more erupted in the stands. ASU spokesman Kenneth Mullinax said 10 to 12 juveniles were detained by Montgomery police. Mullinax said security was sufficient for the tournament and the fight was "a very rare event."

Supermarket defends itself over Adolf Hitler cake

A supermarket is defending itself for refusing to a write out 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell's name on his birthday cake. Deborah Campbell, 25, of nearby Hunterdon County, N.J., said she phoned in her order last week to the Greenwich ShopRite. When she told the bakery department she wanted her son's name spelled out, she was told to talk to a supervisor, who denied the request.

Karen Meleta, a ShopRite spokeswoman, said the store denied similar requests from the Campbells the last two years, including a request for a swastika.

"We reserve the right not to print anything on the cake that we deem to be inappropriate," Meleta said. "We considered this inappropriate."

The Campbells ultimately got their cake decorated at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said Tuesday.

A Wal-Mart spokesman told The Associated Press on Wednesday that in light of the incident, the company would review its guidelines regarding cake decorations and other requests.

"It's clear that in serving this customer, some people were offended," spokesman Greg Rossiter said. "As a result, we're going to review our policies."

Heath Campbell said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because "no one else in the world would have that name."

The Campbells' two other children are named JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, who turns 2 in a few months, and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, who will be 1 in April.

Campbell said he was raised not to avoid people of other races but not to mix with them socially or romantically. But he said he would try to raise his children differently.

"Say he grows up and hangs out with black people. That's fine, I don't really care," he said. "That's his choice."

He said about 12 people attended the birthday party Sunday, including several children of mixed race.

REWARDS ARE BEING OFFERED FOR MURDERING CHRISTIANS: Extremist groups in India taking advantage of the downed-economy.

Extremist groups are offering money, food and alcohol to anyone who murders Christians and destroys their homes. The violence is nothing new in Orissa, India, where India's Communist Party estimates that more than 500 Christians have been killed by Hindu mobs in Orissa since late August ... 12 times more than official government claims of only 40 homicides according to a report written by Chelsea Schilling.

Now the stakes are even higher – and pastors have a bounty on their heads. Faiz Rahman, chairman of Good News India, said Hindu militants are targeting Christian leaders, the Christian Post reported.

"The going price to kill a pastor is $250," he said.

Rahman, a head of several orphanages in Orissa State, said he's helped 25 pastors leave refugee camps, but 250 Christian leaders are still in shelters.

"All of the pastors are high value targets," Rahman told the UK-based Release International. "We've got to get them out of the refugee camps."

An All-India Christian Council spokesman said, "People are being offered rewards to kill, and to destroy churches and Christian properties. They are being offered foreign liquor, chicken, mutton and weapons. They are given petrol and kerosene."

One official said he personally authorized "cremation of more than 200 bodies" found in jungles after Christians were blamed for the death of Hindu leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati on Aug. 24. They continue to be persecuted even though Maoists openly admitted to murdering Saraswati.

Thousands of homes and churches have been destroyed, and an estimated 50,000 Christians have been forced to flee the violence. Mission Network News estimates 5,000 Christian homes have been burned and 200 churches ruined. According to the Christian Post, 30,000 people remain in government-operated refugee camps. Tens of thousands are living in forests – many seriously wounded.

Father Manoj, based at the archbishop’s office in Bhubaneshwar, said Christians remain in hiding.

"They are too scared to go home. They know that if they return to their villages they will be forced to convert to Hinduism."

Religious rights group Barnabus Fund told the group Hindu militants "forced" Christians in Orissa to "convert" to Hinduism by threatening them with rape if they refused. Neighbors reportedly gang-raped a Hindu woman after her Christian uncle refused to renounce his faith, according to reports.

Another Christian woman named Jaspina was told by neighbors, "If you go on being Christian, we will burn your house and your children in front of you." She and her family were forced to eat cow excrement to "purify" themselves of Christianity. Other Christians were doused with gasoline and told to participate in conversion ceremonies or be lit on fire.

This week, Hindu extremists said they have set a deadline for the capture of Saraswati's murderers. If the killers are not caught by Dec. 15, they promised to begin a massacre on Dec. 25, Christmas day.

According to the latest report, Orissa's Catholic bishops wrote an ominous letter to the state's chief minister. It read, "This conflict is a calculated and pre-planned master plan to wipe out Christianity from Kandhamal in order to realize the hidden agenda ... of establishing a Hindu nation." Pastor's Sex Challenge For Congregation

(CBS/ AP) The pastor of a Dallas-area mega-church challenged married congregants during his sermon Sunday to have sex for seven days in a row -- and says he's practicing what he preaches.

The Rev. Ed Young, 47, says he believes society promotes promiscuity, and he wants to reclaim sex for married couples. Sex should be a nurturing, spiritual act that strengthens marriages, he said.

"God says sex should be between a married man and a woman," Young says. "I think it's one of the greatest things you can do for your kids because so goes the marriage, so goes the family."

Young is founder of the Grapevine, Texas-based, nondenominational Fellowship Church, which draws about 20,000 people each Sunday and also has campuses in Dallas, Fort Worth and Plano, Texas.

Earlier this year, a southwest Florida pastor, perhaps having more faith in his congregants' stamina, issued a 30-day sex challenge.

Young said the seven days should begin this coming Sunday.

"The goal," Young told Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen Thursday, "is for the church to talk about sex, because, after all, God is the one who invented sex, and he tells us to do it, but he says to do it in marriage.

"And sex is really the super-glue, Julie -- I believe it's a real reflection of how the marriage is going, so I thought, 'Wouldn't it be cool if we could get 20,000 people having sex for seven straight days?' And I think some of the issues that you have to deal with prior to going to bed together, that's going to be the real take-home from this 'sex-periment' that we're doing."

The reaction from both congregants and the community, Young says, "has been overwhelmingly positive, because so many people are whining from the economy, and I thought, 'How do we change whining into whoopee?'

"We had guys who were texting their friends during the sermon, they were like. 'You've got to be her next week. You won't believe what's gonna happen!' So, it's been great.

"We've had a few people go, 'Man, I wonder why you're doing this,' or, 'That's kind of odd, talking about making love in church.' But, again, I think the church has allowed the culture to hijack sex from the church, and it's time that we moved the bed back in church and put God back in the bed, and I think we are the real sex-perts because, after all, we're made in God's image and he's the one who wants us to do it his way."

Young added, "Even my wife and I are going to do this. We've been married for 26 years and we have four kids, so I'm looking forward to it. It will be one of the greatest Thanksgivings ever!"

He's asked his parishioners to e-mail their thoughts and feelings during the week of sex and explained to Chen he thinks that will result in getting "some real issues out on the table. I think they'll deal with some forgiveness stuff, some maybe hurt feelings. I think there's a lot of stress and a lot of anxiety because of this tough time we're going through, and I think it will solidify a lot of marriages, and I think this sex-periment we're doing will be a launching pad to take many, many marriages to a whole 'nother level.

"We're gonna do a follow-up service where we actually read and talk about some of the responses, some of the feelings that the husbands and the wives are having, and we're going to get them to fill out in a little book and e-mail it."

Prosecutors say Richard Scott Harper and Michelle Reynolds conspired to kill her husband Thad John Reynolds.

A former assistant pastor accused of the 2004 love-triangle killing of a deacon in his church has pleaded guilty to the crime according to the AP.

The accused, Richard Scott Harper, entered the plea in Floyd County Superior Court in exchange for prosecutors not seeking the death penalty. Prosecutors say Harper and Michelle Reynolds conspired to kill her husband, 36-year-old Thad John Reynolds.

The report said that Harper ambushed Reynolds in July 2004 outside the Frito-Lay distribution center where the deacon worked and stabbed him 19 times. The story made national news and devastated members of Hollywood Baptist Church, where the Harper and Reynolds families attended each Sunday.

The deacon's wife, Michelle Reynolds, is charged with helping plot the crime. Her trial has not been scheduled. Harper is expected to testify against her as part of his plea deal, he is currently awaiting sentencing.

Police officials said Harper and Thad Reynolds were close friends when Harper and Michelle Reynolds became lovers. The two made phone calls and sent computer messages to each other about their plot to kill Thad Reynolds, say police.

Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain announced Wednesday that he is suspending his campaign to return to Washington and focus on the "historic" crisis facing the U.S. economy.
McCain said it was time for both parties to come together to solve economic crisis. Democratic rival Sen. Barack Obama said at a news conference later Wednesday that he and McCain had spoken by phone and had agreed to issue a joint statement about shared principles in the approach to resolving the economic crisis. But he disagreed with McCain's call for postponing Friday's first presidential debate in Oxford, Mississippi.

"It's my belief that this is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person will be the next president," Obama said. "It is going to be part of the president's job to deal with more than one thing at once. It's more important than ever to present ourselves to the American people."

Regarding McCain's call to join him in Washington to help participate in the debate over the economic recovery plan, Obama said, "If I can be helpful then I'm prepared to be anywhere, any time ... [I] don't want to infuse Capitol Hill with presidential politics."

Announcing his decision to suspend his campaign, McCain said, "I am calling on the president to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Sen. Obama and myself. It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.

For those who listen or have heard, my show(Bootleg&Bsides Radio), have heard me make comments like, "I'm not voting for a Christian President, but a President, who has Christian values," understand that I want someone who can run the country, and help us to get out of this mess that we are in. Historically we(Christians), have voted for those who say all of the things that we believe in, or whomever our Pastors are co-signing for, from the pulpit(DEADWRONG, knowing that the congregation are sheep (check the biblical term for sheep)), but ultimately CANNOT run the country. They may be able to pray very well, or pay tithes, or against abortion, and gay marriages....BUT CAN THEY RUN THE COUNTRY? ITS ABOUT THE ISSUES!!!!!
